project 20 of 33 : confetti on canvas.

20 projects down....
13 more to go......
19 days until deadline......
The best thing about DIY projects is....you can give anything your own twist to make it yours. One thing I love about projects is that concept all in itself. I love finding projects and coming up with ways to do it MJB♥ style.  Welcome to Project #20. Confetti on canvas.
Supplies needed:
  • canvas (any size)
  • mod podge
  • scissors
  • foam brush
  • card stock (any color)
  • tissue paper (any color)
  • circle shape (not shown)
(for the card stock and tissue paper, you can choose any type of paper you'd like. I've seen glitter paper used also).
I used the bottom of a candle holder as my circle shape, and start tracing! Next you will cut out the circles. How many you choose is totally up to you.  I did about one page worth of yellow, and half a sheet of tissue paper.
After all the circles are cut out, I just kinda threw the circles on the canvas and arranged them to look like random pieces of confetti. This is confetti on canvas after all right?
Mod podge is next. This part took a little trial and error. For me, what worked best was if you put a little bit of mod podge on the canvas first, then lay the circle down, and add another coat of mod podge on the circle. It stays on the canvas much better with a coat underneath, and on top. After all the circles were in place, I let the first coat dry then painted a second coat.

After the mod podge dries, these are a few shots of what it looks like. Haven't decided where to put this yet. If we ever finish decorating our bedroom, the colors I'm liking are bright yellow and a bright red as the accent colors. Maybe this will get a spot on the wall? Not sure yet. But it was a fun project, and very quick! Longest part is always cutting out of the shapes. As you can see, the circles aren't perfectly round, but I kinda like it that way.
