project 11 of 33 : fridge makeover.

This project was so fun, as they all have been! We all have that fridge that can get bombarded with calendars, invitations to remember, photos, kids' artwork, etc. It was starting to look a little messy for me. So I decided to makeover the fridge. Loved how it turned out!
Supplies needed:
  • magnets: can be purchased at local hardware store
  • primer
  • spray paint
  • miscellaneous frames: had some old ones laying around in the basement, or you could go to your local thrift store and pick up a few for really cheap.
  • chicken wire
  • tin snips: not pictured, used to cut chicken wire
First thing I did was lay out the frames and sprayed them with primer. After the primer dried, I sprayed them with the colored spray paint. Chose yelllow and green! The kitchen is painted a sage greenish color so I went with a brighter green and bright yellow for some pop of color.
After the paint dried, I hot glued the magnets on the back of the frames. To make sure they stayed in place, after the glue was put on the magnets I pressed really hard to make sure they stayed to the frame.
Cutting the chicken wire was the hardest part of this project and my least favorite. If you have ever purchased chicken wire before it comes all rolled up. When you un-roll it, it's kinda hard to keep it flat. You might need another set of hands for this part. I used heavy things in the kitchen to hold the ends down that I wasn't cutting. I did my best to measure the wire to the back of the frame. I only did chicken wire on one frame, and that was for the side of the fridge.
Here's a close up of the kids' frames. I gave each of them their own frame to put their things in. The lowercase "b" and "n" magnets I found at Hallmark on clearance. I am a forever clearance shopper wherever I go!
The kids also have one of those emotion magnets. They are obsessed with putting how they feel for the day. It's so cute. Most days Natalie puts hers on "happy". She will tell us she is happy to be with us. So sweet!
The top left frame is for Kev and I. It's a magnet picture of him and I at my cousins wedding last year. And a postcard from our vacation this summer.
The side of the fridge is the large frame I used for the chicken wire. This is where i hope to put invites, reminders, photos, etc. The mini clothes pins I bought at Hobby Lobby.
We are happy with the way it turned out. Kev's exact words were "that's pretty cool."  It looks a lot nicer and more organized, with a pop of color!
