project 10 of 33 : vacation memory jar.

Since we took our first family vacation together this year, I've wanted a way to create a memory of it in addition to the photo book, for the kids. So here's what I came up with!
This was an incredibly simple project to do! I had 2 large mason jars to use, one for each of the kiddos. Tossed a little bit of sand into each jar, along with a few shells. We didn't bring any shells home from the trip, so I purchased some fake ones at Hobby Lobby.
I printed off a 3x4 photo from the vacation, and stuck it in the sand towards the back of the mason jar. All of the shells were in front of the photo. And that's pretty much it! Seriously, that simple.
To differentiate between the two because you know kids, they pretty much can have a mini-fight over anything. I scrounged up some bright scrap paper, and stuck an embellishment on the side. One says "vacation" and the other says "adventure".  To finish it off, I wrapped the top of the jar with red and purple twine.
When I finished them, I put them in each of the kids' rooms so they would be surprised when they went up to bed.
These were really fun to make and super simple! You could do any kind of memory jar you wanted. Just google memory vacation jars and a ton of ideas pop up. Make one your own and savor your vacation or important memory forever!
