A grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes. She is someone you can tell your secrets and worries to, and she hopes and prays that all your dreams come true. She always loves you, no matter what. She can see past temper tantrums and bad moods, and makes it clear that they don't affect how precious you are to her. She is an encouraging word and a tender touch. She is full of proud smiles. She is the one person in the world who loves you with all her heart, who remembers the child you were and cherishes the person you've become.
Today is the faithful day my family buried my Grandma. It is so hard to put into words what this feels like. Grandma fell in the bathroom and was gone. Just like that. We think it may have been a blood clot or a stroke, but whatever happened seemed to me instantaneous.
My grandma was a special lady. She taught me many things in my life. When I graduated high school she gave me this little framed quote. It says "behind every successful woman is....herself." I have kept that on my desk since she gave it to me. She always writes the best little sayings on things. On the back of the framed quote she wrote "To Mandy, Only you can make good things happen for you. Love, Grandma" Dated May 30, 1997.
It's always fun to go to Grandma's house. Their's just something about the smell in her house, just makes you feel right at home. It's hard walking in there now and just seeing my saddened Grandpa trying to get a hold of all that's happened.
Grandma I miss you so much. It's going to be so hard without you around. I know things get better in time. Just hard to realize that right now.
The other day Grandpa fell asleep on the front porch swing, and while he was sleeping their were so many hummingbirds flying around the porch. I seriously think that is you coming back to say everything's going to be okay.
I love you Grandma. Rest in peace.
